Who knew the Eiffel Tower was so BIG? Okay, I don't know why, but I always thought the Eiffel Tower and the Space Needle in Seattle were the same size! Uh, not exactly! The Eiffel Tower is probably 10 times the size of the space needle (sorry Seattle). The picture below was taken to give you an idea of how massive the base of it is.
So after I stopped looking up, I started looking down and wondering, "what is up with wearing high heels to the Eiffel Tower?!" I noticed far before this that Parisians and Italians have a thing with pretty shoes and apparently are less worried about mangled feet than they are about making a fashion statement. I for one can respect this. But there are HUNDREDS of stairs one has to climb just to get to the first look out on the tower. Can you say OUCH?! So I started taking feet pictures, I thought it was so funny. Really, I am so easily amused.
This pair I thought would be particularly painful as the stairway was made of grated metal.
Below, a snapshot of the footwear sported by our tour-group, every single day of the trip. We are ugly Americans!
The view from the Tower was phenomenal. We went up as far as we could climb (to the second level), but opted out of the hour wait for the elevator to the top.
